Julia Curran was born in St. Louis, MO in 1988. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Printmaking from Truman State University in 2010, then went straight to work as the Shop Manager at Evil Prints where she specialized in wrangling shit tornadoes and unruly interns. She is a young up-start in the printmaking world and has been very fortunate to have met and worked with many of the artists who influence and inspire her including Huck, all of the Outlaw Printmakers, Artemio Rodriguez, and Jeff Rial. Aside from both the time-honored and contemporary printmaking greats, Julia’s work is also heavily influenced by current affairs, propaganda posters, institutional discrimination, and bits and pieces from folklore and good stories. Julia has had the honor of having her work on exhibition around the US, France, Nicaragua, and once in Estonia. In 2011 she stormed the printmaking scene in France for a year compliments of a Fulbright grant, and starting this fall you can find her at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi blowin' shit up and twerkin' on her MFA.
